So many people have found a spiritual home here at St Oswald’s, the Parish Church of Tile Hill. As you walk into the doors of this modern building you may well detect the lingering smell of incense from the Sunday Eucharist. Yes, we are a traditional church with a wonderful liturgy which enjoys both traditional and modern hymns, high mass and family services, but the most important thing about St Oswald’s is the welcoming congregation.
This church can truly claim to be a growing congregation too, with quite a mixture of ages. The COOL Kids Club is a splendid group teaching the younger children under 9 the tenets of the Christian faith with great success. At the other end of the spectrum we have quite a few in their 70’s and 80’s and even one 95 year old active lady, whose fitness is beyond belief. Like many churches the teenager population is not high but we have a strong nucleus of committed young people who will become the future leaders.
As Vicar of the parish, I have developed close links with local schools and act as chaplain to the shops and commercial establishments. Through care to the less fortunate in our parish of somewhat high deprivation, we have touched the lives of many in trauma and trouble with God’s powerful love and healing. Although our main thrust of ministry tends to focus on the less fortunate in our society, if I were looking for a church to worship God and have a real feeling of being part of something universal, then St Oswald’s is the place I would wish to be.
Give us a try, and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
